Neil Trautwein is the National Retail Federation’s health care lobbyist and has primary responsibility for health care and employee benefits policy.  Trautwein joined the NRF in 2006.

 

Trautwein is one of the most prominent health care lobbyists in Washington, serving in a leadership role in a wide variety of key health policy positions and coalitions over the past two decades. He also publishes a popular e-mail blog that is widely read among congressional staff, industry allies, media and health policy experts across the nation and participates in the NRF blog.  Trautwein is a NRF spokesperson on health care issues and is often quoted in print and broadcast media.

 

Prior to joining the NRF, Trautwein lobbied for the National Association of Manufacturers from 1998-2006, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce from 1995-1998, and the National Association of Health Underwriters from 1991-1995.  He also served as legislative assistant to Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) from 1985-1991.

 

Trautwein received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Louisville in 1984 and his Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University’s National Law Center in 1987.
